3D Printed Pocket Voltex Review

Indonesians can buy the product here Hello guys today I will be reviewing a 3D printed mini SDVX controller, which costs about 39 USD (IDR 575.000). Right away, I will tell the pros and cons of this controller. Pros It is cheap, where else can you get a Sound Voltex Controller for under 40 USD? The next cheapest SDVX controller would be this, and what you get for 18 extra USD is better build quality (wooden box and acrylic top panel). Cons ...

Final Audio E500 Review

Introduction Back before 2022, your only option for a budget neutral IEM would be the Final Audio E500. Nowadays a lot of IEMs on the budget price bracket are tuned similarly. Still, the moment these became available for pre-order in Indonesia, I bought them. TL:DR Pros Dead neutral tuning, no bass, no treble. Not fatiguing at all, can be used for long listening sessions Bullet style IEM, which is great for people not liking IEMs with earhooks Small nozzle (~5mm), makes it an easy fit for people with small ear canals Comes with 5 pairs of Final type E eartips (SS, S, M, L, LL). Buying these eartips separately would cost as much as the IEM itself Cons Plastic build Cable is not detachable, and not braided (might be a dealbreaker for some) Dead neutral tuning means no details on the bass or treble section Hard to identify left from right (Usually the colored eartip is the right side, while the grey eartip is on the left side. However, this approach is flawed because you might put them on the wrong side) Notorious for having QC issues related to channel imbalance (one side is louder than the other) Isn’t Chu/Zero neutral? I also own the Moondrop Chu and the Salnotes Zero. Both of them are neutral, but they still have detail on the top end. Some found this to be fatiguing though. As you can see on the graph, the E500 (green line) has less bass and WAY less treble. It is an overly safe tuning, which allows people to listen for longer periods. ...

broken phone

Your Phone and You

Backstory My phone screen got broken when it fell down, rendering it unable to be used at all. When I took it to the service center, the cost of repair was about 20% of my phone price, and it need to be left there for about 2 working days. Luckily for me I have a secondary phone, but it was a 4 year old phone running LineageOS 18. Even then, the past 2 days waiting for my phone to be fixed was riddled with anxiety. ...

HaaSA: Hobby as a Social Activity

Preface It was my birthday yesterday! But it was a workday, so I couldn’t hung out with my friends. Instead I met up with my friends today. The agenda was simple: Attempt tempest tape mod on an one year old Rexus Legionnaire MX9 that I had laying around. Open up my laptop to do some deep cleaning Have dinner (this part is not interesting so I won’t say anything about this) Part 1: Tempest tape mod epic failure For those who are not in the know about what tempest tape mod is, it is applying masking / non sticky tape to the back part of your keyboard’s PCB to dampen the sound. I wanted to try this on my main board, but I am a bit afraid of breaking my (pretty expensive) board… I had an old keyboard laying around that has removable outemu switches, but they are not compatible with gateron switches. Since the switches are removable, it means I can get to the PCB without desoldering. Sadly I didn’t document the keyboard teardown, but it was very stressful due to the sole fact that it is really hard to remove the switches from the socket. I don’t know if this is because it’s my first time removing the switch from the keyboard (not loose at all), or simply because the keyboard was cheap, therefore making it hard to remove the switches. With some force, I managed to remove all of the switches (not without breaking some parts of the clear plastic, rest in peace 2 outemu reds 🙏). After loosening 13 screws on the board, I finally got to the PCB. All that is left is to apply the masking tape to the back of the PCB and reassemble the keyboard. Except I was really stupid and didn’t make holes in the parts where I needed to make a hole, which are the screw holes of the keyboard (if I could take a picture I would, but I really don’t want to remove ~80 switches again just to take a picture of the case). While making holes for where the screw holes should go, I might have bent the PCB too hard. Why did I say that? Because after reassembling, some keys are messed up. It is not a case of bent pins, because: ...

Trying out blender

In one of my previous posts, I decided to go on a game development journey. The model used for the spaceship was a model that I got from this site, which has low poly models from Poly by Google (Poly by Google was closed as of 30 June 2021, but the site I used has an archive). As I progressed on, I wanted to make my own 3D models because it might be a valuable skill, and I didn’t want to depend on free assets. Maybe create assets for background, or even model a character that can be used as a virtual avatar, or game character. How bad could it be? ...

My First "Game"

On the 20th of March this year, I bought a bundle from Humble Bundle, called the “Stand with Ukraine Bundle”. It included many games, including Back 4 Blood, Satisfactory, Starbound, and many more. The bundle also contained other software and courses. One of the courses was this course, about 3D game development in Unity. I had some interest in game development, so I decided to follow along the course. The result was this game that I uploaded to their site. Here is a link to the source code. If you are tech-savvy enough to read the game scripts, you would notice a few debug/cheat keys that I left in there on purpose. ...

Hosting A Starbound Server

Multiplayer So me and a couple of my friends wanted to play Starbound together. Hosting a server using your own machine or simply joining via steam is a viable option, but none of our connections were stable enough. If I hosted, sometimes packet loss would cause everyone to disconnect from the server (including myself, even though I was hosting the server). With that in mind, we decided to find a dedicated VPS to run the starbound server. We eventually setteled for ID Cloud Host because it is hosted in our country (Indonesia). ...
